Tiny Tot Combo (ages 2.9-4)
Specifically geared and suggested for the first-time student. This creative multi-educational pre-school movement class helps to heighten total body awareness, coordination, rhythm and motor skill development through the basics of Ballet, Jazz and Gymnastics. Social education is also acquired as students learn to follow directions, take turns and interact with peers. This class is certain to excite and stimulate the young student's mind and imagination.
Kinder Combo (ages 4-6)
Combining all the same basic learning techniques as in Tony Tot Combo, this class is a step above. Concentration is on more involved movements and teaching the finer controlled basics of Ballet, Jazz and Gymnastics. This class is geared for the 2nd level student - building and enhancing fine motor skills and establishing a foundation for basic dance technique. It will continue to enrich the student's imagination as we explore journeys through song and movement.
Kinder/Petite Tap/Jazz Combo (ages 4-7)
Ideal for the 2nd and 3rd year student, this class introduces and teaches all the very basic tap skills in a fun "toe tapping" and "finger snapping" musical way. Movement through song, total body awareness, coordination and creativity are all acquired. Combining tap with basic Jazz steps - this class is sure to please the energetic child helping to develop a strong sense of rhythm, counting skills, and tempo changes so essential for this type of dance.
Tap (ages 6 and over)
Tap is a form of dance wherein rhythmic sounds are created by the feet. This class teaches all the very basic through advanced skills in tap with emphasis on rhythm, tempo, ability to count music and developing proper technique. Correct precision and clarity of sound are acquired through consistent repetition of warm-up movements along with working essential upper body placement.
Jazz (ages 6 and over)
Jazz technique is similar to Ballet but works in a parallel position rather than a turned out position, allowing more freedom with body isolations. This class is designed for students who are 6 years and over or those who have had several prior introductory classes. It is a fun-filled class combining creative movement to up-tempo popular music appropriate for the age and level of the students. As in all other dance forms; physical conditioning, coordination, strength and flexibility are all incorporated with concentration on developing a strong foundation of Jazz technique.
Ballet (ages 6 and over)
This classic art form teaches grace, poise, strength, control, correct body placement and alignment as well as discipline. Ballet is the essential groundwork and foundation for all other types of dance and is foremost in learning proper technique. It is strongly recommended as the focal class to maintain if ever wishing to become a serious dancer whether it be Ballet, Jazz, Tap or Acro. Constant repetition of basic skills and diligent, concentrated work at the ballet bar are necessary in developing correct placement. In order to advance to the higher levels in this particular form of dance, multiple classes per week are recommended. The Tuesday ballet classes will learn a choreographed piece to perform in the recital. The Thursday classes are technical classes only with no recital or costume.
Acro/Gymnastics (ages 4 and over)
For the student wanting to learn basic through advanced skills in tumbling as well as the basics in gymnastics apparatus, this class consists of total body conditioning, strength, flexibility, coordination and muscle development. The class is geared to each individual working at a personal level. Students will perform in a separate gymnastics showcase at the end of the season. (the average teacher to student ratio is 1:8 or less)
Lyrical (ages 10 and over)
Lyrical is offered only to students ages 10 and over unless in a Company class. It is a combination of Ballet and Jazz styles. Used to interpret the lyrics, mood, and/or feeling of a song, as well as expanding on the physical benefits from Ballet. Lyric classes help the student relate emotionally with the music allowing freedom of movement and individual expression.
Pointe (ages 12 and over)
Pointe class is offered only to those students age 12 and over who are currently enrolled in a Ballet class, and at least of intermediate level. It continues to teach the basics of ballet helping to develop overall body strength and placement. Failure to observe basic precautions can result in serious injury to forming young bones, weakening back muscles and causing bad posture. We adhere to basic safety guidelines for the safety and well being of each child.
Hip Hop (ages 6 and over)
Very much like Jazz, with more freedom of movement, Hip Hop is an energized street dance that can be seen on every venue of the arts and entertainment industry. Very popular with both young and old alike these classes are sure to excite and exercise the body and mind. Combining popular music and up to date "move and grooves" students will learn all the necessary skills to dance along with their favorite pop star. These classes will be taught in 5-week sessions with no experience necessary.
Theater (ages 6 and over)
For the student with a flair for drama, a colorful imagination, and a desire to perform in front of an audience or simply the student who would like to develop more social confidence...this class is for you. Beginning with a concentration on introducing basic acting skills through games and advancing through more involved and progressive acting techniques, this class will teach all the necessary fundamentals in theater and acting. Several performances are scheduled throughout the season.
Technique (ages 8 and over)
These classes are specifically designed for the serious student interested in improving and advancing skills and technique in all areas of dance. Much concentration is focused on stretching and conditioning as well as adapting to diverse choreography and style. This class is highly encouraged and recommended for all serious company students.
