Competition Where does it go? At some competitions we are very fortunate and win cash awards. While most studios keep the cash to help pay teacher expenses for weekend competitions, we make sure the majority of it goes right back to our students. Typically we earn just enough to break even after the annual TEAM pizza parties. When asking the students what they preferred, their individual earnings of anywhere from $1.50- $5.00 per person after divided equally among their teams or a Pizza party, they all agree they'd rather have the party. We also feel the small amount per person is better served as a whole by placing a high amount into our HSPA scholarship fund to help those dancing families in need. Over the years many families have fallen into times of hardships becoming temporarily unable to afford to keep their child in dance. This reserve fund allows us to give them assistance so they can remain a part of our dancing family until they can get back on their feet. Over the years it has helped over 100 families who are very grateful they didn't have to take dance away from their child. After many discussions with parents, it was agreed that everyone approved of having their individual small share placed in the scholarship fund. And you just never know if someday it could be you in need of assistance. Of course when it comes to those routines such as solos, duos, or trios that earn a high amount, the cash is divided and put towards their personal accounts or National events, again with a small percentage going into the reserve fund. If you have any furthur questions or concerns regarding this, please feel free to see us. Thank you Alison & Lisa |
