                NOW THAT WE ARE ENTERING THE BUSY SEASON AT THE STUDIO WE WOULD LIKE TO REMIND

         YOU OF WHAT OUR FOCUS FOR THE YEAR WILL BE.

                AS MENTIONED ON OUR WEBSITE THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT IS THAT OF EDUCATION AND

         EXPOSURE.  WE WANT EVERY STUDENT TO HAVE THE SAME ADVANTAGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

         AVAILABLE TO LEARN AND GROW FROM.  OUR MAIN FOCUS AND PRIORITY WILL ONCE AGAIN BE PLACED

         ON ATTENDING CONVENTIONS, WORKSHOPS AND PERFORMANCES.  COMPETITIONS ARE OFFERED FOR

         THOSE INTERESTED BUT SHOULD BE LAST ON THE PRIORITY LIST.

              AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE BULLETINS, WE OFFER AT LEAST 15-20 WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

         THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR ALL STUDENTS OF ANY AGE LEVEL, AS WELL AS GOING INTO NEW

         YORK CITY FOR CLASSES ONCE A MONTH.  THERE ARE VERY FEW STUDIOS THAT DO THIS!!!  CONSIDERING

         WE ONLY REQUIRE TEAM STUDENTS TO A1TEND 2 COMPETITIONS PER YEAR WITH THEIR TEAM

         COMPANY, IT CERTAINLY PROVES WHERE OUR PRIORITIES AND FOCUS LIE.  MOST COMPETITION

         SCHOOLS AT OUR LEVEL MAKE THEIR STUDENTS ATTEND ANYWHERE FROM 4-8 COMPETITIONS

         INCLUDING A MANDATORY NATIONAL COMPETITION. WE UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERYONE CAN GO TO

         NATIONALS SO WE USE OTHER STUDENTS AS UNDERSTUDIES AND RE-WORK THE ROUTINES AS NEEDED.

         YES, IT WOULD BE EASIER ON US TO DEMAND TIIAT EVERYONE A1TEND BUT WE ALSO KNOW THAT IT MAY

         NOT BE FINANCIALLY POSSIBLE FOR SOME FAMILIES AND NOT FAIR TO THOSE STUDENTS WHO ATTEND

         FULL SUMMER DANCE PROGRAMS.  WE WOULD NEVER WANT TO PUNISH OR TAKE AWAY OPPORTUNITIES

         FROM THEM. WE CARE ENOUGH TO DO THE EXTRA WORK. WITH ALL THIS IN MIND, NO ONE CAN LABEL

         US JUST A COMPETITION SCHOOL!!!!  WE SEE THAT AS AN INSULT AND TAKE IT VERY OFFENSIVELY?

              WE ALSO NOW OFFER VARIOUS TECHNICAL WEEKLY CLASSES SUCH AS BALLET, MODERN AND

         STANDARD TECHNIQUE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS. THESE ARE ALL OPEN

         CLASSES WITH NO OBLIGATION TO COMPETE OR BE IN THE RECITAL.

              FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO DO COMPETE AS A SOLIST, DUO/TRIO WE HOPE YOU’LL PUT MORE

         EMPHASIS ON LEARNING RATHER THAN COMPETING AND WINNING.  IF YOUR ONLY GOAL IS TO COLLECT

         TROPHIES OR RACK UP TITLES THAN YOU SHOULD RECONSIDER AND RE-ADJUST YOUR GOALS.  WE DO

         NOT WANT TO JUST BE KNOWN FOR OUR MANY TITLES AND AWARDS.  YES, WE ARE PROUD OF THOSE WE

         HAVE ACHIEVED BUT THEY DO NOT REPRESENT WHO WE ARE.  FOR MANY IT IS A CHANCE TO EXPAND ON

         LEARNING EXPERIENCES, MAKE CONNECTIONS MEETING NEW PEOPLE AND EARN VALUABLE

         SCHOLARSHIP MONEY TO FURTHER DANCE OPPORTUNITIES.  FOR US HERE AT HSPA IT IS MORE

         IMPORTANT TO BE REVERED AS A SCHOOL THAT PROVIDES QUALITY TRAINING ALONG WITH ARTISTIC,

         CREATIVE AND UP TO DATE CHOREOGRAPHY; A SCHOOL THAT PLACES VALUE ON THE FUTURE OF OUR

         DANCERS.  WE WANT EVERYONE TO FEEL AS THOUGH THEY ARE A PART OF A LOVING AND NURTURING

         FAMILY!  THAT IS THE REPUTATION WE ARE MOST PROUD OF!

              THAT’S CERTAINLY NOT TO SAY THAT COMPETITION DOESN’T HAVE ITS PLACE.  COMPETITION

         CAN BE THE MOST POSITIVE EXPERIENCE EVER IF LOOKED AT WITH THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND.  IT IS

         ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP PERFORMANCE SKILLS, PROVIDE EXPOSURE, ALONG WITH

         LEARNING HOW TO PREPARE AND DEAL WITH COMPETTION FOR THE FUTURE WHETHER YOU PURSUE A

         DANCE CAREER OR NOT.

              FOR THOSE PLANNING ON PURSUING A CAREER IN THE PERFORMING ARTS, BELIEVE US WHEN

         WE SAY HOW MUCH YOU WILL ONE DAY BE GRATEFUL FOR THE EXPERIENCE GAINED THROUGH

         COMPETITION.  AS EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS WHO WENT ON TO AUDITION AND PERFORM WITH

         DANCE COMPANIES AND IN SHOWS, WE KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT COMPETITION DID FOR US.  AT

         AUDITIONS WE DEFINITELY HAD THE ADVANTAGE OVER THE STUDENTS FROM NON-COMPETITVE

         SCHOOLS AND BALLET SCHOOLS WHO WERE NEVER PROVIDED ENOUGH PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITES.

         SURE THEY LOOKED GREAT DURING THE TECHNICAL ELEMENTS BUT FAILED MISERABLY WHEN IT CAME TIME

         TO PICKING UP CHOREOGRAPHY QUICKLY AND THE PERFORMANCE END OF THE AUDITION.  THEY ALSO

         HAD A HARDER TIME ADJUSTING AND ACCEPTING REJECTION AND CRITICISM HAVING LITTLE EXPOSURE

         TO A COMPETITIVE ATMOSPHERE.  AND LET’S FACE IT, IF THIS IS A CAREER CHOICE FOR YOU, YOU WILL

         FACE COMPETITION AND REJECTION FAR MORE TIMES THAN YOU WILL ACCEPTANCE.  COMPETITION IS

         WIIAT IT’S ALL ABOUT.  IT TOUGHENS UP THE INNER SPIRIT MAKING US WORK HARDER AND NOT GIVE UP

         WHEN CHALLENGED.  ASK ANY PROFESSIONAL OUT THERE AND THEY CAN ATTEST TO THAT!!!

              BEING A WELL ROUNDED DANCER IS THE KEY TO MAKING A CAREER IN THE FIELD OF DANCE.

         IT’S A COMBINATION OF STRONG TECHNIQUE ALONG WITH THE ABILITY TO PERFORM FOR AN AUDIENCE.

         THAT’S NOT TO MENTION HAVING A TRUE AND NATURAL PASSION FOR WHAT YOU DO AND THE

         STRENGTH, ENDURANCE AND COMMITMENT TO PERSERVERE THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES.  ONE

         ELEMENT DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT THE OTHER IN THE PROFESSIONAL WORLD.

              WE ARE VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT WE’VE HAD MANY STUDENTS GO ON TO ACHIEVE GREAT

         SUCCESS IN MANY VENUES OF DANCE, WHETHER IT BE BALLET COMPANIES, MODERN COMPANIES,

         BROADWAY SHOWS, TV, FILM, THEME PARKS, AND CRUISE SHIPS ETC.   ALL OF THESE STUDENTS HAVE

         COME BACK AND THANKED US FOR THE QUALITY OF TRAINING THEY RECEIVED AND THE MANY

         OPPORTUNITIES WE PROVIDED FOR THEM TO REACH THESE GOALS.

              BOTTOM LINE; OUR GOAL AND FOCUS IS AND ALWAYS WILL, BE TO PREPARE OUR STUDENTS TO

         THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITIES SO THEY CAN REACH THEIR POTENTIAL.  ALL OF THIS CAN HAPPEN

         WITHOUT EVER WINNING A SINGLE TITLE, TROPHY OR MEDAL!
